What a Beginner Needs Before Opening a Phone Trading App

Trading from a phone is possible with most of the brokers reviewed on this site. The main requirement is a smartphone with enough storage and a stable internet connection, plus an app from the Android or iOS store. Every broker in the table supports Android and iOS, and all of them also offer a web platform that runs in a mobile browser.

Before you install anything, check the minimum deposit. The lowest published minimum deposit among the brokers reviewed here is $5, at Deriv. Pocket Option also lists a $5 minimum deposit. Stockity, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova all publish a $10 minimum deposit. BinaryCent is the outlier at $250.

The minimum trade amount also matters for a beginner. Deriv lists the lowest minimum trade at $0.35. BinaryCent lists $0.10. Stockity, Pocket Option, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova all list $1 as the smallest trade. These figures determine how much of your deposit is committed to a single position, so they are worth comparing before you fund an account.

  • Deriv: $5 minimum deposit, $0.35 minimum trade
  • Pocket Option: $5 minimum deposit, $1 minimum trade
  • Stockity, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option, Exnova: $10 minimum deposit, $1 minimum trade
  • BinaryCent: $250 minimum deposit, $0.10 minimum trade

Funding a Phone Trading Account from Nigeria

The payment routes available to a trader in Nigeria are bank transfer, mobile wallets, cards and USDT. Bank transfer runs through the NIP network, which means any local bank can be used. This is often the most familiar route for someone funding an account for the first time.

Mobile wallets are another option. OPay, PalmPay and Moniepoint are the ones traders in Nigeria use most, according to the reference data. They work well when you want to move smaller amounts quickly without going through a bank app.

Cards are accepted too: Verve, Visa and Mastercard. However, card payments are subject to your bank's international limit. That limit can block a deposit even when the broker itself accepts the card. For this reason, many traders keep a backup route ready.

USDT is usually sent over TRC-20 and is described as the fastest route when a card is declined. If your bank restricts international card payments, USDT can still move the money through. The currency shown on the page is the naira (NGN), but the deposit figures in the table are quoted in US dollars because that is how the brokers publish them.

Phone Platforms and Payout Figures to Compare

Every broker reviewed here offers Android and iOS apps, so the choice is not about whether phone trading is possible but about which app fits your needs. Some brokers also support third-party platforms. Deriv supports MT5 and TradingView in addition to its own apps. Pocket Option supports MT4 and MT5. The others on the list stick to their own platform plus a web version.

Payout percentages are published as maximums, not as what you will receive on any given trade. Deriv lists the highest maximum at 100%. Quotex lists 98%. IQ Option, Olymp Trade and Expert Option each list 95%. Pocket Option and Exnova list 92%. Stockity and Binomo list 90%. These are ceilings, not averages, and a beginner should read them that way.

A higher maximum payout does not make one platform safer or better for a beginner. It is one figure among several. The minimum deposit, the minimum trade size and the payment route you can actually use are often more relevant in your first weeks.

  • Deriv: 100% maximum payout, also offers MT5 and TradingView
  • Quotex: 98% maximum payout
  • IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Expert Option: 95% maximum payout
  • Pocket Option, Exnova: 92% maximum payout
  • Stockity, Binomo: 90% maximum payout

Licences, Warnings and What Is Not Published

The reference data separates brokers into three groups when it comes to licences. Some hold licences on record. Deriv lists MFSA 70156, Labuan FSA MB/18/0024 and VFSC company No. 14556. Pocket Option lists MISA (Mwali) T2022086. IQ Option lists CySEC 247/14 (EEA). Olymp Trade lists VFSC company No. 40131 (Aollikus Limited) and Financial Commission membership. Binomo lists IFC (FinaCom) Category A. Expert Option lists Financial Commission membership.

Other brokers have no licence found in any register read. Stockity, Quotex and Exnova fall into this group. That does not automatically mean they are unsafe, but it does mean the page cannot point to a published licence for them. A beginner should treat that absence as a fact to weigh, not as a rumour to ignore.

Regulator warnings are also recorded for some brokers and not for others. Pocket Option holds warnings from the FCA, Consob and CFTC. BinaryCent holds a VFSC notice of fraud, a CFTC red-list entry, an AMF blacklist entry and an FMA New Zealand warning. Exnova is recorded with withdrawal complaints and a no-regulator note. Deriv, Stockity, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo and Expert Option have no warnings we hold.

Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission licenses capital market operators, but it does not license fixed-time trading. That means none of the fixed-time platforms above is licensed by the SEC for that activity. Keep that distinction in mind when you read any promotional text about regulation.
